A false sense of euphoria is permeating through the general populace of America. The No Kings rally, the largest protest march in the history of the United States, was held. The Democratic party swept through all elections. Mutiny is breaking among Trump’s base. The ghost of Epstein simply will not go away.
Trump’s approval is now lower than all modern U.S. presidents at this point in their presidency and his dismal performance is breaking records and shattering emergency glass within the Republican party, many of whom are starting to abandon him.
Surely, finally, we can breathe a sigh of relief that perhaps Trump will be stopped, that American democracy will be saved, right? Right?!
The trials and tribulations to American democracy, the greatest experiment in human history, is not over just yet. And here is why:
There will always be at least 20 million Americans who will support Trump no matter what he does.
Trump himself said it: “I can shoot someone on Fifth Ave in broad daylight and not lose any support.”
Even if Trump comes out tomorrow and explicitly calls for an end to all elections (which he will very likely do in 2026’s midterms), declares himself a king, his base will still cheer him on, and would readily prostrate to their new god on their hands and knees, crawling before him and declaring themselves the royal slaves to the new Trump emperor. What happened on January 6th in 2020 was simply a prelude to what is about to come in 2026 and 2028. And we have already seen what Trump’s base is capable of.
So how many of Trump’s most fanatical followers are out there?
Now let’s do the math.
Even if Trump’s approval is only at 30%: in 2024, 77 million people voted for Trump, and let’s assume that of the 30% approval, all of them are people who voted for him, which is unlikely, but, for the sake of the argument, let’s assume it’s true, then there are still 23 million people who approve of him.
Even if his approval drops to only 20%, which, honestly, is unlikely, that’s still 15 million people. In fact, I believe his floor is around 25%, because a year ago there was a poll that asked how many Americans supported invading Canada, and something like 66% of Americans opposed, while 25% of Americans approved.
You have to be absolutely batshit crazy to approve of Americans using force to invade Canada, and the only way you can approve of that is if you are an absolute brain rot cult follower of Donald Trump.
Those are the people who constitute the very core of MAGA, and, they are the most dangerous. Those are either Christian fundamentalists who believe Trump is the second coming of Christ and will usher in the end times, or white supremacists who want to exterminate all non-whites in this country, and they are no longer just the fringe segments of the American population. For all we know, they are now infiltrating the FBI, the DOJ, ICE, border patrol, the military, who knows where-else, and you now have a dictator-wannabe who will want to unleash, to the fullest possible extent, the power of those people in the upcoming elections, if he does not get his way.
Remember when Hillary said that Trump supporters were a basket of deplorables, that something like a quarter of his supporters were racists, sexists, misogynists, etc. Well, she was not lying. We see it now.
Those are Trump’s base, and if we learned anything in the last ten years, it’s that those millions of Americans will NEVER abandon Trump, no matter what he puts them through. He can bankrupt their farms, shoot inflation through the roof, send their daughters to some billionaire’s island for sexual slavery, and start 11 wars in 11 days; they will always support him, because to those Americans, Trump has long stopped being a politician. Trump is their god-king, their supreme leader like Kim Jung Un or Mao Zedong. You will never be able to convince those people to stop supporting Trump.
And in fact, I’d say, it’s very likely that there are way more than 25 million people in America who will always support him no matter what. But I intentionally choose the numbers in such a way as to produce the most optimistic outcome. In all likely cases, there are probably close to 100 million Americans in America who will never abandon Trump, no matter what.
This is the most interesting of times, politically speaking. Will American democracy survive? Will America collapse into a dictatorship? What will happen in 2026 midterm elections?
How about we keep the political talk out of here. We all can get that all over the internet. Let’s leave this as a haven for finding happiness with a wanting, beautiful Asian woman.
If you don’t talk about politics enough, politics will find you. You don’t want the horror of Chinese PLA troopers claiming white concubines after America collapse and those scum bug take advantage.
I couldn’t disagree more! Your take is wrong on so many levels! Even your assumptions about Trump and his supporters are wrong. The tarrifs are not bankrupting the country. In fact data is showing the opposite. Democracy is not at risk of being lost! But it was in danger under Biden.
Sadly, I agree. We’re in very dangerous times. There are, even by low estimates, millions of Americans who will support Trump regardless of what he does, and will support him as a dictator, not as a president.
Unfortunately, Americans have become to disengaged from the political process. Too many people who don’t support him don’t have the will or the interest to oppose him, because they’ve become too engrossed in social media and manufactured controversies.
Well said. Its insanity.
