The current Chinese government (the Communist Dynasty, in line with the former dynasties in Chinese history) would like to actively elevate and promulgate the “harmonious” and “humanitarian” philosophy of Confucius, and use it as a prop to legitimize its rule; but it runs away from its “Fajia” (法家 or Legalist) legacies like it’s a plague, and would rather hide the fact that they ever existed, though, just like every former dynasty, it also uses the Legalist ideas without ever giving due crediting.

The Legalists from 200 B.C. during the warring states of China were responsible, it is said by modern Chinese historians and scholars, for establishing what Karl August Wittfogell called the Oriental Despotism, the special kind—the exceptional kind—of despotism, tyranny, absolute ruler-ship, and as a direct causation, an oriental kind of slavery, a level of ruthlessness beyond what is comprehensible to the average westerner, an exceptional level of cruelty of mass murders and rapes and tortures on a scale indescribable and incomprehensible to the gullible westerner.

The Legalists, represented by Shang Yang 衞鞅 (390 – 338 BC) and Han Feizi 韓非子 (280 – 233 BC), on the surface of things, sound almost like the precursors to European modernity, with their advocate to uphold “the rule of law”, and “equality before the law”, and to the jejune, may even be compared to a Montesquieu or an Emanuel Kant.

But in their philosophical weltanschauung, there is no god. No, let me correct that. There is a god and that god is the ruler. And this god is above the rule of law. In fact, the rule of law is only created by this god to better control the populace.

At best, Shang Jun Shu (商君書), the major work of Shang Yang, may be more aptly compared to The Prince by Machiavelli.

Browsing through the succinct text of Shang Jun Shu, written in classical Chinese text known as 文言文 (which is to modern Chinese as Latin is to vernacular English or German), scholars have summarized the following salient points: in order to have a strong national state, the ruler must enact stringent and biting laws whose aim is not to strengthen the people, or even to look after the well being of the people. Quite the opposite, their purpose is to weaken, impoverish, humiliate, torture, unify, and, make them foolish (弱民 , 贫民 , 疲民 , 辱民 , 愚民 , 虐民 , 壹民).

A weak people means a strong state and a strong state means a weak people. Therefore, a country, which has the right way, is concerned with weakening the people. (民弱國強,民強國弱,故有道之國,務在弱民)

What the Legalist scholars advocate is so radically different from the Enlightening philosophies, the humanitarian ideals that modern Europeans hold so dear, but most importantly, do those ideas actually work?

So instead of thinking about politics, I applied what the Legalist scholars advocated to what I know best, the relationship between the sexes and this is my result.

1. 弱民 (weaken women)

Weak women make stronger men. If a man is weak, then the woman will become strong. And a strong woman enfeeble the weak men even further. Thus, a man who wants to be strong must first make his woman weak.

I have yet to find a relationship where this is reversed. Almost universally, women seek out men who are stronger than themselves, and sometimes in the presence of weak men, women will either feel disgusted and leave, or, if she has any feelings for him, she will intentionally make herself appear weaker. And as women get stronger, more independent, more educated, more powerful, women start to despise weak men and the entire human race will eventually be led to demise through women’s refusal to reproduce.

2. 贫民 (impoverish women)

In order to weaken women, men must make sure women are always impoverished. Impoverished women will then become dependent on men. Rules therefore should be set where women are not allowed to own property or have access to bank accounts and accumulate personal wealth. Woman should also be forbidden to inherit wealth from her father. Property and wealth ownership have never been extended to women in the thousands years of recorded human civilization. Aristotle himself said, in Book V of Politics, that the ruins of Sparta were due to the Spartans giving women the right to property ownership and lamented the fate of those civilizations that have foolishly empowered women.

3. 疲民 (make women tired)

Women should be given daily tasks to perform to be kept busy so we do not have time to think about other meaningless things like attempting to philosophize and try to name the unnameable, as the first wave feminist did. Women need to be constantly fucked and bred so all our attention and time are spent on child rearing. Women also need to be employed in the most demeaning jobs and lowest common jobs such as being waitresses, janitors, strippers, masseuses, prostitutes, etc.

4. 辱民 (humiliate women)

Humiliate and degrade women so as to make us feel worthless. To this objective, cruel and unusual punishments should be codified to apply solely to women for petty offenses. In ancient times, immoral women were subject to public humiliation, where women should be stripped naked, paraded on the street; public flogging, where women are stripped and our bare buttocks are exposed and whipped; and, sexual slavery, where women were sold to military brothels. Those things, which causes such abhorrence among the modern populace, were once the norms of every human society.

The more cruel and unusual, the more docile and obedient women will become, and in fact the hornier the women become and more eager to copulate and reproduce. This is also why population decline is precipitating in the West and developed north East Asian countries, while it’s still accelerating in Africa and the Middle East, where women are routinely subject to public flogging, torture, and sexual slavery.

5. 愚民 (make women stupid)

Women should never be allowed to receive an education. If women were allowed to receive education, or even higher education, we will think we are smart and we will refuse to look up to men for advice and we will think the men are weak and stupid.

Thus women must intentionally be made stupid through lack of access to education. Only men are allowed to be educated. And this will enable a more stable relationship between men and women. And even if women were to receive education, “a woman’s education must never exceed that of a man, and her education should only go so far as to provide pleasant intellectual discourse to her husband, ” according to Victorian era progressive thinker John Ruskin.

Rousseau, Locke, and Nietzsche held similar views on this.

6. 虐民 (torture women)

Be as sadistic as you want with women. Concoct up evil means of torture to humiliate, degrade, and enslave women. The purpose of torture is not for the well being of women, but rather, to subjugate women through fear and terror, so we become obedient slaves to men.

7. 壹民 (make women uniform)

Women should not be allowed to have individuality or any opportunity other than either getting married and giving birth to children or be sold to brothels and become sex slaves. Thus we will be uniform in our looks, intelligence, and demeanor.

In fact, this is actually what Nature has already been doing to women, as women have much lower deviation from the norm, both in terms of intelligence, as well as in terms of other physical and biological characteristics. The Gaussian distribution for women are always higher in the middle for just about every parameter, such as IQ, height, etc.

Women also already tend to be more uniform in opinion and it is widely studied in psychology that women are much more likely to adopt herd instinct and follow the flow than to hold individual and contrarian opinions. It would then seem that to make women uniform is the way of Nature, and doing otherwise would be “contrary to Nature“, as the Stoic philosophers would say.

Conclusion: If we apply the Legalist ideas to domesticate women, then women will become obedient and submissive to men and therefore the harmony between the sexes will be restored. If we do not do as the Legalists implied, then the women will become strong and independent women will fight men and men and women will both be embittered. Women will then refuse to reproduce with those enfeebled men and civilization will collapse.

Just as a side note, both Han Fei and Li Si 李斯 (another Legalist philosopher) were students to Xunzi () , and Xunzi was a student to Confucius and so in a way, Legalism is just another branch of Confucianism, albeit a very different branch that is quite far from the bulk.
